Intake Process
Potential residents may receive referrals from various Chemical Dependency Agencies and Correctional Facilities, or may refer themselves. Upon referral, the potential resident requests an application and schedules an interview with current RHR residents at a weekly peer-led house meeting. The potential resident completes an application and interviewed by current residents, which typically lasts aboutone hour. Following the meeting with current residents, the Peer Leader contacts the potential resident and informs him as to whether he has been accepted into the program. Acceptance is based on the potential residentē“ ability to be responsible for his own self as well as show respect towards others. This includes respecting house rules, committing to chores, and attending community-based self-help programs. In addition, he must be able to financially meet his share of monthly expenses for the house he resides in, which includes rent and food.
Recovery
Residents must:
Any resident who returns to using any mood altering substance will be immediately expelled from the house and will be recommended to a clinical facility to address the relapse. Once expelled, the resident will only be allowed to return to RHR after regaining abstinence and creating a more focused plan for recovery. RHR does not provide clinical services, but does encourage residents to complete Outpatient Chemical Dependence Programs, when appropriate, and does utilize other community resources to enhance the resident recovery process.
Positive Outcomes
After participating in RHR's programs and services, residents:
RHR residents who successfully complete our program become contributing members of society and decrease the tax burden on their community as the goal for most residents is to become employed, productive, and independent.
RHR knows addiction IS treatable as many former residents have moved forward with their lives, becoming and remaining clean and sober.
Sober living in the community gives recovering addicts an opportunity to become employed as well as take responsibility for themselves and their community.
